 Plenary Session and Breakout Groups

Thank you to all those who volunteered for the role of plenary chair, facilitator or rapporteur. There was a surplus of volunteers so we were unfortunately not able to take up all offers. The Plenary Session and Breakout Groups list, including details of roles allocated, is now available.

 Conference Speakers and Delegate Discussions

We are delighted to welcome the following speakers who will address the conference on various aspects of the theme of technology and democracy.

Mr Matt Miszewski: General Manager, Worldwide Government, Microsoft Corp to speak on Possibilities.

Mr Tony Collins: Freelance Journalist and former executive editor of Computer Weekly, to speak on Challenges

Mr Christopher Graham: UK Information Commissioner and Mr Iain McDonald: Isle of Man Data Protection Supervisor to speak jointly on Rights.

Breakout and Report Back Sessions

We hope that delegates will take the opportunity to discuss the successes, challenges and rights issues they have experience of in their own jurisdictions with respect to the use of technology in democracy. Investment in technology can be a significant commitment which, especially in the current economic climate, needs to deliver the expected results. We would like delegates to share the invaluable knowledge that comes from firsthand experience.

In a broader sense there may also be some examples of the use of technology in democracy which have made a particular impression, good or bad, which delegates would like to discuss.
